Boston & Worcester Railroad Station (first) opens.
May 16, 1834
It is located on Washington Street at Indiana Place (on Broadway, then Pleasant Street) near today’s 64 Arlington Street. A new station (second) is built on Lincoln and Beach Streets in 1836,* another (third) at Park Square in 1875,* and another (fourth) on Kneeland Street in 1881.* The line merges with the Western Railroad to form the Boston & Albany Railroad in 1868.*
